Internet fraudster arrested.
The Internet fraudster
is no other than a 19-year-old Mechanical Engineering student of a
polytechnic in Delta State, Emmanuel Eto, who has been operating a fake
Facebook account of Tinubu where he swindled job seekers with fake
promises of jobs with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC), the Federal Government, Nigerian Ports Authority and other
federal parastatals, where he informed interested applicants to pay the
sum of N26,850, which was employment and processing charges..
Eto's
cup became full when one of those he defrauded, Idowu Adeyemei, made a
complain to the Lagos State Police Command and the State Intelligence
Bureau (SIB), swung into action and traced him to his hideout on May 9,
when he was arrested by the operatives.
The police
said the items recovered from the suspect were six SIM cards, 13 empty
SIM card packs, six photographs of a white man, and one I-pad.
The
Oleh, Isoko South local government area of Delta State born Eto, told
the police that it was another student in the polytechnic who trained
him.
"I am studying Mechanical Engineering at
the polytechnic. I am in my second year. This whole thing started in
January 2015. It was a colleague, Kelvin, who gave me the idea.
I
don’t know Tinubu and have not met him. My friend gave me the idea, and
it actually worked because three job seekers paid money into my bank
account.
"I also have phone numbers from
the United Kingdom and the United States of America which I used to
communicate with victims. It is just three persons I have duped so far."
