Juncker 'ready to work' with Cameron

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has issued a statement saying he "stands ready to work constructively" with the incoming Conservative government.

Congratulating David Cameron, who had publicly opposed Mr Juncker's candidacy, on the election result, the former Luxembourg PM reaffirmed that he wants a "fair deal with Britain" and that the Commission will "examine in a very polite, friendly and objective way" any "proposals, ideas or requests" that the UK may put forward.

Mr Cameron says he will demand EU reforms ahead of an In/Out referendum in 2017.
