I always struggle to keep a smirk off my face each time I ruminate over how we often as a people focus on basic things while glossing over the crucial ones. Security, climate change, economy and a host of other hot issues are important but they become basic when viewed from the perspective of crucial issues like religion and healthcare. Possibly owing to our sensitivities, we tend to take religion for granted. In a world where we now go out of our ways not to cause offence religion and those that take it to fanatical levels become the biggest beneficiaries. For instance, I had waited several times to see public outrage against religion driven violence even when life is lost but we all tend to simply heave our shoulders in a gesture that says ‘it is about religion I don’t want to blaspheme’ as we move on to discuss the next political scandal.

Facebook offers a number of products and tools to individuals and companies to help them reach new audiences and grow their businesses. Facebook continues to push their updates to Messenger. Last week, at their annual F8 conference, The Social Network unveiled the much-anticipated Messenger Bot Store, which will enable businesses to build their own automated response bots on the Messenger platform. Social media platforms come and go just like any other trend. Today I’m going to dive into one of my favorite social media platforms: Instagram.  Let’s start with a brief background on this engine and see how they got to where they are today.  Started on October 6 of 2010, the platform picked up a million users in its first two months and was destined to be a major player from its humble beginnings. In less than a year, they earned their 150 th  millionth upload. In September of 2011, the company released version 2.0 and less than a week after that announcement, the company announced that they'd reached 10 million users. 

As someone who makes his living teaching professionals how to utilize LinkedIn to generate more business for themselves, I remain convinced that the platform is one of the most exciting - and misunderstood - business opportunities available right now. For whatever reason, LinkedIn can't seem to shake the notion that it's "only" a place to find a job or hire a new employee. But as I've learned spending 48 straight months selling products and services on the site, LinkedIn is one of the biggest (and best) opportunities online right now for you to generate oodles of sales leads, add new clients and land new business.

Instagram certainly rocked the social marketing boat these last couple of weeks with their announcement that your feed will soon be curated by an algorithm instead of by which accounts you follow and when they upload. Suddenly, everyone was drowning in requests to “turn on notifications if you still want to see my posts”, which mostly resulted in an unpleasant barrage of notifications on your phone. In the panic, Instagram cautioned everyone to calm down, that testing phase isn’t over yet, and an official rollout won’t happen for months.  But on the heels of that announcement came Instagram’s video play. Previously, their videos for regular users were limited to 15 seconds. Now, a wide rollout is planned for 60-second videos. Why the big jump? Well, people are watching a whole lot more video, for one. Engadget reports that the number of people watching video on Instagram jumped 40% in the last six months.

Today is Good Friday, when Christians mark the passion and death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion, outside the walls of the old city of Jerusalem. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton won their parties’ primaries in Arizona on Tuesday and maintained steep advantages in the presidential nominations race, despite victories by rivals in other states. Trump extended his lead over nearest rival Ted Cruz in the all-important delegate race, although the arch-conservative senator from Texas made a night of it by resoundingly winning the Utah caucuses. Clinton’s challenger Bernie Sanders, whose grass-roots campaign has refused to yield to the former secretary of state, snatched much-needed victories in Utah and Idaho, blunting Clinton’s momentum just as she began to project an image as the inevitable Democratic nominee.

Social media hasn’t just swallowed journalism, it has swallowed everything. It has swallowed political campaigns, banking systems, personal histories, the leisure industry, retail, even government and security. The phone in our pocket is our portal to the world. The Internet and the social web enable journalists to do powerful work, whilst at the same time contributing towards making publishing journalism an uneconomic venture.

President Muhammadu Buhari, according to several citizens who are calling for his head, disappointed Nigerian youths as it concerns the campaign promise on the payment of N5000 monthly allowance to unemployed Nigerian graduates which so far has not been fulfilled.

We always knew that this marriage was held together, at best by cello tape and that at the first sign of friction, it would come apart easily. We have been proven to be right but how the eggheads did not see this situation developing is a topic for another day. This was always going to happen when the two parties chose not to be sincere in their dealings with each the other.
